Commonwealth Dentistry has proudly served patients and families all over Central Virginia since 1998. We are committed to providing exceptional care for our patients through a team of highly skilled dentists, dental technicians, and dental hygienists, modern equipment and methods, and multiple convenient locations.

We understand the importance of accommodating our patients’ needs in a relaxing atmosphere, which is why we customize our services to ensure every patient is as comfortable as possible during their visit.

Mark Beltrami

DDS

A founding partner of Commonwealth Dentistry, Dr. Mark Beltrami graduated from MCV School of Dentistry in 1995 and has been practicing in the area since 1998. Besides his work at Commonwealth Dentistry, Dr. Beltrami also helped establish and is the current vice president of Central Virginia Dental Care, PLC. He is a member of the American Dental Association and been invited as an expert for their informational panels. Mark is also a long standing member of the Virginia Dental Association, where he has served on the new dentist committee and is an active member of the advisory board for Benchmark Dentures, the largest pro bono denture distributor for the VDA’s Mission of Mercy project. Dr. Beltrami dedicates extensive time each year to participate in continuing dental education around the country and he has been recognized by “Best of the Tri Cities” as Best Dentist by the Progress-Index. Mark has also traveled to Jamaica with dental students to serve communities in the island that have limited access to dental care. Outside the office, he has served as part time faculty at the VCU School of Dentistry for more than 10 years and resides in the area with his wife, Michelle, and two children.

Bryan Dixon

DDS

Also a founding partner of Commonwealth Dentistry, Dr. Bryan Dixon graduated from MCV School of Dentistry in 1996 where he was honored as the International College of Dentistry Award recipient. He is a member of the American Dental Association and the Virginia Dental Association. He has received specialized training in Laser Dentistry and participates in extensive continuing education on dental implant placement, root canal therapy, and esthetic dentistry. Over the years, Bryan has been nominated for the Progress-Index award for Best Dentist in the Tri-Cities multiple times. Bryan has two kids, Wyatt and Kaysie, and when not in the office, he enjoys golfing and spending time with his family.

McKenzie Woodard

DDS

Dr. McKenzie Woodard attended Virginia Tech, where she graduated Cum Laude with a degree in chemistry and later earned her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from VCU School of Dentistry. McKenzie is a partner in Commonwealth Dentistry and a member of the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, American Dental Association, Virginia Dental Association (VDA), and Richmond Dental Society. Having joined Commonwealth Dentistry in 2011, McKenzie also practiced in Charleston, S.C. from 2013-2016 and was honored as South Carolina’s New Dentist of the Year in 2014 by the South Carolina Dental Association (SCDA). Through SCDA and the VDA, she has also participated with the Donated Dental program to provide pro bono dental care services to those in need since 2014. McKenzie and husband Peyton live in Richmond with their two children, Harper and Palmer, their beagle Winston, and their cat Lucy.

Amanda Hoover

DDS

Dr. Amanda Hoover is originally from Gloucester, Virginia, where she graduated from Gloucester High School. Following high school, Amanda attended Virginia Tech where she received her B.S. in biology with a minor in chemistry. Upon completing her undergraduate degree, she immediately entered the School of Dentistry at Virginia Commonwealth University where she earned her Doctorate of Dental Surgery. She currently is a member of many local and national organizations, including the American Dental Association, Virginia Dental Association, James River Study Group, Southside Dental Society, and the Richmond Association of Women Dentists. As she demonstrates her passion for dental care and her community, Amanda participates in local outreach programs such as the Virginia Dental Association’s Mission of Mercy projects and the American Dental Association’s Give Kids a Smile Day, where she volunteers and donates her dental skills to underserved Virginians. In order to provide her patients with the latest and most up-to-date procedures, Amanda continues her dental education by taking classes in areas like implants, endodontics, and sedation. When she’s not providing care to her patients, Amanda is a Crossfit trainer and enjoys traveling with her husband, Jared, and her daughter, Logan, and son, Jack, who are both busy soccer players. She also loves animals and has three miniature dachshunds: Reese, Tater, and Cash.

Clint Meadows

DDS

A native of Dalton, Georgia, Dr. Meadows studied biology at The University of Georgia before earning his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from VCU School of Dentistry, where he was a recipient of the Elizabeth and Eugene Harrison Scholarship. He has trained in 3D printing and CADCAM dentistry, which is a field of advanced techniques in computerized dentistry. Clint regularly participates in extensive continuing education opportunities with a focus on dental implant placement, root canal therapy, and esthetic dentistry. He is a member of the American Dental Education Association and the American Dental Association, and participates in local Mission of Mercy projects in Virginia. He is very committed to helping his community and often volunteers at the Charlottesville Free Clinic and with CARITAS of Richmond where he provides free dental care and oral health screenings for people in need. Outside the office and his volunteer efforts, Clint is an avid musician. He plays bass, guitar, piano, and mandolin, and regularly performs with a Richmond-area band comprised entirely of other local dentists.

Kim Van

DDS

Dr. Kim Van earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Biology with honors from the University of Florida. Thereafter, she went on to pursue her Doctorate of Dental Surgery at VCU School of Dentistry. Kim is dedicated to serving her community and providing the best quality care for her patients. She strives to make her patients feel comfortable and assured when performing any dental procedures.

Kim actively participates in numerous advance continuing education courses. She has participated in various community service projects, including the VCU Jamaica Mission Trip, MOM Special Olympics, and Give Kids a Smile Day. Kim is an active member of the American Dental Association, Virginia Dental Association, and Southside Dental Society.

Outside of dentistry, Kim enjoys spending time with her family, traveling to new places, doing outdoor activities, trying new restaurants, and cheering on the Florida Gators!

Afia Rasul

DDS

Dr. Rasul attended University of Maryland, College Park and was a part of the science, technology and society scholars program at the university, where she graduated in 2008 with a bachelor’s degree in neurobiology and physiology with a minor in English literature. She also graduated from University of Maryland School of Dentistry in 2012 and was inducted into Gamma Pi Delta, a prosthodontic and operative honor society. While in dental school, she was a research tech and worked with the head of the endodontic department focusing on vertical root fracture diagnosis. During her final year, Afia was selected into the implant prosthodontics fellowship program to focus on implant restoration. She is a member of the American Dental Association, Virginia Dental Association, and the Richmond Dental Society. In 2015, she got married and moved to Richmond. Outside the office, Afia loves to travel and spend time with her husband, Zain, and son, Nyle.

Melissa Alvarado

DDS

Dr Alvarado was born and raised in the Texas Panhandle where she obtained her undergraduate degree. Following dental school she furthered her education by completing a 2 year General Practice Residency at Western Reserve Healthcare in Ohio, before she decided to settle down in Virginia.

Dr Alvarado enjoys all areas of comprehensive dental care from preventive treatment and simple restorations to root canals, extractions, implants, crown and bridge work and cosmetic care. She is a member of the American Dental Association, Virginia Dental Association and the Academy of Genera Dentistry and the American Academy of Implant Dentistry.

Phyllis Greer

DDS

Dr. Phyllis Greer is a native of Seattle, Washington. She graduated Magna Cum Laude from University of the Pacific with a degree in biology. In 2006, she earned her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree with honors from University of the Pacific School of Dentistry. After graduation, she served in the United States Army as a general dentist. Phyllis moved to Virginia in 2014 and has been in private practice ever since. She is a member of the American Dental Association, Virginia Dental Association, and the Southside Dental Society. Phyllis lives in Chester with her husband and two kids, and when not in the office she enjoys spending time volunteering at her children’s school.

Ginger Grizzard

Practice Manager

Ginger has been with Commonwealth Dentistry since 2002. Over the years, she has enjoyed working with patients as a Registered Dental Hygienist before transitioning into a management role. Ginger lives in Midlothian, Va. with her husband and two daughters. When not spending time with her family, Ginger is a running enthusiast and enjoys training for for marathons, half-marathons, and the occasional triathlon.

Karen Mitchell

Manager of Dental Hygiene

Karen graduated from Virginia Tech in 1996 with a degree in business management and became a Registered Dental Hygienist in 1999. She has been with Commonwealth Dentistry since 2003. Karen lives in Prince George with her husband, daughter, and son. In her free time, Karen has a passion for volunteering and helping others.

Beth Heath

Manager of Dental Assisting

Beth has been a dental assistant since 1995 and has worked with Commonwealth Dentistry since 2003. Over the years, she has enjoyed building lasting relationships with our patients. Beth lives in South Chesterfield with her husband and son. Outside of the office, she enjoys shopping, cooking, fishing with her son, and volunteering at his school.
