Virginia Dental Bone Grafting

Build a strong foundation for a healthier smile

Restore jaw strength and support with dental bone grafting

When tooth loss or gum disease leads to bone deterioration, dental bone grafting offers an effective solution to rebuild and strengthen your jaw. At Commonwealth Dentistry, we specialize in advanced bone grafting techniques that create a stable base for dental implants, improve oral health, and enhance the structure of your smile.

Bone grafting involves adding natural or synthetic bone material to areas where bone density is lacking. This procedure not only restores the strength of your jawbone but also helps maintain your facial structure, preventing the sunken appearance that can occur with bone loss. Our experienced team provides personalized care to ensure your bone grafting treatment is safe, effective, and tailored to your needs.

Bone Grafting FAQs

What exactly does bone grafting involve?

K
L

Bone grafting is a procedure that rebuilds and strengthens areas of the jaw where bone density is low. By adding natural or synthetic bone material, we create a stable foundation for dental implants or improve overall oral health.

How long will I need to recover after a root canal?

K
L

Recovery times vary, but many patients return to their normal activities the next day with minimal discomfort, managed by over-the-counter pain relievers.

Will bone grafting change how my face looks?

K
L

Yes — in a good way! Bone grafting supports your dental health while helping maintain your natural facial structure, preventing the sunken appearance that can occur with bone loss.

How soon can I get dental implants after bone grafting?

K
L

The timing depends on how much bone regeneration is needed. While some cases allow for same-day implants, more extensive grafts may require a healing period to ensure the bone integrates properly.

Is bone grafting only for dental implants?

K
L

Not at all! While it is commonly used to prepare for implants, bone grafting can also support gum health, treat bone loss from gum disease, and improve the stability of existing teeth.

What can I expect during recovery?

K
L

You may experience mild swelling or discomfort for a few days, but this is typically manageable with over-the-counter pain relief. Our team will provide personalized aftercare instructions to help you heal quickly and comfortably.
