Pediatric dentistry FAQs

When will my child's first teeth come in?

K
L

The two front lower incisors are usually the first teeth to come in, and this generally happens when a child is around 6 to 10 months old.

When should my child first see a dentist?

K
L

The American Dental Association recommends that a child has their first dental exam either once their first tooth has come in or by the time they are one year old. While that may seem early to bring your child to the dentist, it ensures that they are getting a head start on a life of great oral health.

How often does my child need to see the dentist?

K
L

The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry recommends that children see the dentist at least twice a year. This is also the recommendation for adults. With regular dental visits, our children's dentists can help your child avoid cavities, dental pain, and future oral health issues.

How can I teach good oral hygiene habits to my child?

K
L

Teaching good oral hygiene to your child involves starting early, using age-appropriate toothbrushes, setting a routine, and leading by example. Make brushing fun with timers or music, offer praise, and teach proper brushing techniques. Introduce flossing when teeth touch. Encourage a balanced diet with limited sugary snacks and drinks. Schedule regular dental check-ups from age 1 onwards for professional guidance. Patience is key as your child develops consistent oral hygiene habits.
