A great option to address missing teeth is dental implants. Dental implants are the most reliable way to permanently replace damaged or missing teeth. If you have missing teeth, dental implants can offer a solid base for the replacement. An implant is a small titanium screw that we place in the jaw in place of the root of a missing tooth. The implant connects to surrounding healthy teeth, called abutments, to provide support for your crown.

Over time, implants cause renewed bone growth, allowing your jaw to naturally grow around and fuse with the implant, creating a strong, natural part of your jaw. Dental implants encourage better overall oral health since they leave the surrounding teeth intact.

What are some of the benefits of having dental implants?

If you have missing or damaged teeth, dental implants may be the right choice for you. Just a few reasons why dental implants are the most popular way to address missing or damaged teeth:

  • They look, feel, and act exactly like real teeth.
  • They are permanently fixed in your mouth and don’t move around like dentures.
  • They are far more comfortable than dentures because overtime they grow with your jawbone.
  • They cause no pain or discomfort when eating.
  • No daily maintenance other than your normal oral hygiene routines are required.

How long does the implant process take?

While implants require an intensive process to put in place, with typical recovery time ranging from 6-12 weeks, once you are fully healed you’ll be back to your normal self, with no effect on your eating, drinking, or speaking!

Dental implants often require restorative surgery from a licensed periodontist. If we decide that implants are the right treatment option for you, we’ll provide a referral to one of the excellent surgeons in our network.

There are generally two types of procedures, the freehand where the oral surgeon prepares the jawbone and does the placement by hand, and guided implant surgery, which involves a digital scan. Your oral surgeon will provide a recommendation on which will work best for you.

We provide guidance and support through the whole process, from start to finish. We’ll be with you every step of the way, from initial consultation to the surgeons office to your successful recovery.
